NAIROBI Interior Cabinet Secretary, Fred Matangi, has urged the National Transport Safety Authority to include President Uhuru Kenyatta’s picture on its new smart driving licenses.
Speaking on Friday morning, Matiang’i said NTSA will include Uhuru’s picture on new licenses as a way of marking it as one of Uhuru’s achievement.
“President Uhuru has reformed this country. We must leave a mark of his achievements by including his picture on the new NTSA licenses,” said Matiang’i.
“I have consulted my colleague in the transport sector, Hon.Michael Kamau and we have agreed to ask NTSA include President’s picture on our digital driving licenses,” he added.
The new driving licenses will be fitted with electronic chips that will contain key details of a driver.
The smart driving license is going to allow a driver’s profile to be created for every license holder, a critical move that will in profiling a driver’s behavior.
All Kenyans will be required to have the new licenses that will be launched in phases to give time to people who have renewed theirs for several months.
